OBIT BYRD, EVELYN WORLEY
BYRD, Evelyn Worley, 84, of Wheatland Hills Retirement Center, Radford,
formerly of Morehead Lane, Pulaski, died peacefully Thursday evening, May 6,
1993. Born in Montgomery County on December 13, 1908, she was the daughter of
the late Robert Peck Worley and Nannie Smith Worley. She was a longtime member
of the First Christian Church, Pulaski, where she was very active serving the
Lord in numereous and various ways. She was preceded in death by her husband,
C. Garnett Byrd Sr. Surviving are three sons, Bob W. Byrd, Pulaski, Jack I.
Byrd, Pulaski, Charles G. Byrd Jr., Goldsboro, N.C.; one daughter, Mrs. Robert
(Betty) Brooks, Spring Hill, Fla.; two sisters, Margaret W. Harper, Pulaski,
Nancy W. Sparger, Marion; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the First Christian Church
with the Rev. C. Maynard Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the
Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Saturday at Stevens Funeral
Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of
flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the First Christian
Church Handicap Ramp Fund, Pulaski. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home,
Inc., Pulaski.
