SIBBICK-MCKNIGHT TEAM 3 SHOTS BACK AT WATER'S EDGE

Charlottesville's Larry Hund and Blandon Wright fired a 7-under-par 65 and charged into the first-round lead at the Water's Edge 4-Ball Invitational on Saturday.

Two teams are three strokes back at 68 and four are tied at 69.

The tournament, in its second year, is a two-man best-ball format and features 96 players (48 teams) from six states. Competition on the Water's Edge Country Club course concludes today.

Chasing Hund and Wright are some teams with impressive credentials. Bill Sibbick and Tom McKnight are at 68 along with Dave King and Nick Aquilino.

Sibbick is a former Virginia State Open champion from Martinsville, and McKnight, of Galax, is a three-time State Amateur winner. King and Aquilino, of Bethesda, Md., are both former Maryland Amateur and Mid-Amateur champions.

The teams at 69: Dick Wagner and Barry Graham of Roanoke; Chris Clemens and Jack Tuttle of Roanoke; Tom Mortenson and Jack Trussell (Water's Edge members); and Bill Snider and Bill Williford of New York.
