W&L WOMEN BUMPED FROM NCAA TOURNEY

Sophomore Pam Pluguez had six goals and an assist to lead Trenton State to an 18-4 victory Saturday over Washington and Lee in the NCAA Division III women's lacrosse tournament in Trenton, N.J.

The top-ranked Lions (13-0) erupted for 10 goals in the final 15 minutes of the first half to break open a scoreless game.

Trenton State led 10-2 at halftime, and fired 41 shots at Washington and Lee goalie Sarah Smith. Smith made a career-high 17 saves for the Generals (14-3).

Lisa Dowling scored two goals for Washington and Lee in the Generals' first NCAA appearance. She finished with 81 goals for the season. Angie Carrington and Nicole Ripken each had one goal for Washington and Lee.
