Not to worry. Restauvrants in the New River Valley offer different foods and different moods for local cusvtomers as well as the tourist.

Montgomery County
> Anchy's on North Main Street in Blacksburg specializes in premium fresh seafood and handcut steaks. The Sunday brunch (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) features continental cuisine, including eggs benedict and fresh seafood omelets.

Bogen's also on Blacksburg's North Main Street is a popular stop for both students and professionvals who enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the bar or the open multilevel dining room. It features salads and gourmet sandwiches, which are named after local landmarks. Dinner also offers steaks, seafood and other entrees.

The Cellar Restaurant at College Avenue and Main Street in Blacksburg
opened upstairs over its popular basement bar. It serves some of the best pizza in town, including its Greek pizza with feta cheese. The restaurant also offers Italian dishes, sandwiches, calzones and salads.

Charley's Restaurant in the New River Valley Mall is a good spot for both hungry shoppers and business people. It specializes in steaks, seafood and pasta dishes plus a full sandwich menu.

The Farmhouse in Christiansburg is one of the area's most popular dinner destinations. For an evening out, the restaurant features gracious Southern hospitality in a nostalgic atmosphere. Specializing in beef and seafood dishes, the restaurant has been serving the area since 1963.

Gillie's Confectionary in downtown Blacksburg is the quintessential college town hangout - hip, vegetarian, laidback and healthy. The breakfasts - eggs, hash browns, melted cheese and salsa - draw fans from as far away as Roanoke on weekends. The homemade soups and salads at are always fresh. The restaurant has also started a dinner menu. For many locals, the gourmet ice cream and homemade pastries are the reason to drop in.

The Huckleberry in Christiansburg appeals to almost anyone. It has two lounges with live entertainment, one with a top-40, classic rock-and-roll theme and the other with a country-western theme.
In addition, the restaurant, which strives to offer great service, specializes in barbecue and steaks.

Ipanema Restaurant in Blacksburg has brought Brazilian international cuisine to the New River Valley and offers a variety of interesting pasta and meat dishes in a gracious setting. A specialty is bife acebolado, a steak dish served with rice and black beans.

Italian Kitchen in Ironto is probably the unlikeliest place in America to find terrific New York pizza. But don't be fooled by the storefront location in tiny, out-of-the-way Ironto. The sauteed spinach pizza and the stuffed pizza are not to be missed. The restaurant, on North Fork Road off Interstate 81, also serves Italian entrees.

Jacob's Lantern Restaurant in the Blacksburg Marriott offers several buffet spreads for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It offers a daily breakfast buffet, three luncheon buffets and a Sunday brunch. Wednesday evenings: seafood buffet; Friday evenings: Italian buffet.

Macado's across from University Mall in Blacksburg and on Norwood Street in Radford is well known for its huge sandwiches, salads and its eclectic collection of antiques.

Maxwell's in Blacksburg is the choice for many in the New River Valley on that special evening when they want a sophisticated restaurant offering gourmet dining. It blends fine dining with a cozy atmosphere. The wine list is extensive, the menu varied, and the desserts heavenly.

Pargo's in Christiansburg is notable for its unique atmosphere and its wide menu selection. The restaurant's interior features high ceilings and stained glass windows, and the food choices range from sandwiches and burgers to steak and seafood. The management stresses friendly, attentive service. Sunday brunch and special kids' and seniors' menus available before 5 p.m.

Anna's in Narrows features home-cooked meals in a relaxed country atmosphere.

Charlie's in Pearisburg is the place to go when you want something new. Besides traditional fare like fried chicken and seafood, Charlie's also serves buffalo steaks.

Mountain Lake, perched on top of a mountain near Pembroke, is famous for its relaxing, romantic mountain setting and wonderful Sunday buffet.

Chateau Morrisette is a winery located in Meadows of Dan near Mabry Mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Besides fine dining, the winery also offers a wine tasting room with winery tours and sales.

Durham's Family Restaurant has been in Wytheville for about 45 years. Located at Main & 11th streets, it offers casual dining in a family-owned restaurant. It is best known for old Virginia country ham.

Log House Restaurant on East Main Street offers leisure dining in the charming atmosphere of an historic log house. Everything is homemade. Its most popular entree is its pork tenderloin with bread and apple stuffing.

New China restaurant opened in early spring in Wytheville's Acme Plaza on East Main Street and offers authentic Chinese cuisine in an attractive setting.

Scrooge's offers seafood and steak specialties in a casual atmosphere at this popular restaurant just off Interstate 81 South at Exit 70. It also has two banquet rooms.
