Radford residents obtain city decals, town residents obtain town decals, and county residents not within town limits obtain county decals.
In most jurisdictions, a decal will not be issued until the personal property tax on the vehicle is paid.
Here's where to get them, how much they cost and when you need them:
\ Radford: Treasurer's office, municipal building; Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m.; 731-3661; cars and trucks (under 10,000 pounds) $15; motorcycles $8; trailers (under 5,000 pounds) $6.50; by May 1.
\ Montgomery County: Treavsurer's office, county courthouse, Christiansburg; Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.; 382-5723; cars and trucks $18; antique cars $6.50; motorcycles $10; trailers $6.50 (if 1,500 pounds and under) and $10 (if over $1,500 pounds); junked cars $40 (each, if two or more cars); by April 1.
