ROANOKE GYMNAST 12TH IN LEVEL 9 MEET

Kelli Newcomb of Roanoke finished 12th all-around at the Senior Individual Championships Level 9 Nationals gymnastics meet this weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Newcomb, 15, was fourth in the floor exercise with a score of 9.525, fifth on the balance beam (9.275), scored 9.1 in vaulting and had 9.025 on the bars.

She was the highest all around competitor from Virginia and was second among gymnasts from Region 7, which comprises seven states.

Newcomb trains at the Roanoke Academy of Gymnastics.
