OBIT BECK, JAMES H.

BECK, James H., 57, of Hillsville, beloved husband and father, died Saturday, May 8, 1993, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Mr. Beck was born September 13, 1935 in Asheboro, N. C. He was the son of the late E. Odell and Ossie P. Beck. Survivors include his wife, Chris Beck; sons, Edward and Michael Beck of the home and son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Sandra Beck of Eunice, N. C.; also his sister, Betty B. Flaugher of Lynchburg, Va.; and brother, Jack E. Beck of Lynch Station, Va. Mr. Beck graduated from the University of Richmond and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was also a member of the University of Richmond Spiders football team. Mr. Beck commanded the 343rd Medical Ambulance Company in Galax, Va., for several years. He started the sandlot football program in Carroll County and was active in Youth Sports Program. He was employed at Volvo-White GM. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Hillsville Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends Monday 7 to 9 p.m. at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville, Va. Donations may be made to the Hillsville Presbyterian Church Special Fund.
