NORTH MEETS WITH WYTHE REPUBLICANS

Oliver North is back in Southwest Virginia meeting with key Republicans this week, but he says it involves this year's elections only.

Meeting privately with some Republican leaders in Wythe County on Monday, he said he was working toward electing a GOP governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general.

He acknowledged that former state party Chairman Don Huffman has started a movement to draft him as a U.S. Senate candidate, "but I'm not going to make any move for '94 myself until after we've elected this slate of Republicans this year." - Southwest bureau
