OBIT FIELDS, W. PRICE
FIELDS, W. Price, 85, of Roanoke, died in a Salem hospital Sunday night,
May 9, 1993. He was a lifetime active member of Virginia Heights Baptist
Church, where he served as Chairman of the Official Board of Deacons. He was
formerly active in the dry cleaning business and was a retired real estate
developer. Mr. Fields was also an active member of the Williamson Road Lions
Club, serving as a Past President and was a former District Governor of 24-E
in 1966-1967. He was a member of the Elks Club #197, the Bedford Masonic
Lodge, the Scottish Rite, Kazim Temple, and served in the Navy for four years
during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Estelle Chilton Fields, Roanoke;
daughter and son-in-law, Colette F. and James N. Hinson, Roanoke; daughter,
Priscilla Booker, Oakton; two sisters, Gertrude F. Stovall, Roanoke, Nora F.
Rakes, Orlando, Fla.; three grandsons, Mel P. Booker III, Price Fields Booker,
both of Oakton, Mark Fields Davidson, Roanoke; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth
Fields, Staunton; brother-in-law, Frank Griffin, Bedford. Funeral services
will be conducted at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 10:30 a.m. Wednesday by Dr. Daniel
Scott. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's
Roanoke Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7
to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
