OBIT SCHRADER, WALTER HOWARD

SCHRADER, Walter Howard, 67, of 1304 Newbern Road, Pulaski, died Saturday night, May 8, 1993, at the VA Medical Center, Salem. He was born in Pulaski, on August 19, 1925, and was the son of the late Thomas Wilmer Schrader and Bertha Aust Schrader. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Gladys S. Folden, and a brother, Stanley G. Schrader. Mr. Schrader was a graduate of Pulaski High School, Class of 1943, and he served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Hospital Corpsman First Class, having served in the Pacific Theatre. He was a retired government employee of the Radford Army Ammunition Plant with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Anderson Memorial Presbyterian Church, a member of the Pulaski Elks Lodge, a member of Pulaski VFW Post #1184, a member of the Pulaski American Legion Post, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of the 40 and 8 Veterans Association, a member of the University of Virginia Alumni Association, and he was past president of the Pulaski County Heart Association. Surviving are his wife, Mary Craig Schrader, Pulaski; one son, Walter H. "Rocky" Schrader Jr., Pulaski; one daughter, Susan Anne Schrader, Pulaski; one sister, Evelyn S. Wilson, Draper; one granddaughter, Anne Elizabeth Schrader, Pulaski; one grandson, Andrew Elliott Schrader, Pulaski; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Chapel with Dr. Manson B. Tate officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, with military graveside rites being conducted by the Pulaski VFW Post #1184. Visiting will be Tuesday at Stevens Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Pulaski.
