AMERICA, LAND OF PERVERSE OPPORTUNITY

AFTER READING Christopher Shepard's April 23 letter ("No tolerance for the intolerant"), I wanted to encourage his opposition to bigots against homosexuals in our comics. While he's made a good start, he could broaden his tolerance. He seems isolated to homosexuals, but he must include all forms of sodomy. People should be open about their sexual relations with members of their own gender, children, animals and partners who are willing or unwilling, or multiple.

Why stop at perverts - accept criminals. We should accept thieves and murderers in their mission for self-identity. Don't attack bigots, for many are honest and monogamous people who believe and practice their doctrine. Instead of attacking their morality, entice them to fall in with the rest of us. If bigots were re-educated, we'd have a utopia where only considering something wrong would be wrong.

As he says, it's smart to avoid the professional community. Studies have been made showing significantly fewer gays. I saw a gay teen-ager on a talk show recently, so (as he says) there are probably millions of them, as well as pedophiles, rapists, homosexuals, necrophiles and murderers.

America, accept these lifestyles or get out of the way, you bigot. NATHAN BOYLE SALEM
