THE FBI'S STORM AND WIND

REGARDING the standoff between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Branch Davidians at the Waco compound:

The FBI claims its actions were due to concern over the safety of the children. I suppose they used loud noises to mentally disable the compound members. The FBI gassed the compound and a fire broke out. Thus, the cult members and the children burned to death, thanks to the help of a 30-mile-an-hour wind blowing at the time.

If one has ever been near a forest fire when the wind is blowing, one soon realizes that the combination of fire and wind is uncontrollable. Forcing an assault with the wind blowing that hard was a thoughtless and heartless stunt.

The siege, no doubt, was an ordeal of patience. It is clear the FBI lost it. ROBERT B. HUNDLEY EAGLE ROCK
