CHRIS GLADDEN WILL BE MISSED

CHRIS Gladden's movie reviews had become a landmark in the Roanoke Times & World-News. They were consistently interesting, informative and lucid. I didn't always agree with them, but I always read them. Among the high points, they directed me to movies like "Medea," and my husband to Boodles gin.

So it was with a pang that I realized his column on April 30 was his last. It was such an unceremonious farewell to such a productive career.

I can only thank him for being so diligent and discerning through the years. I will miss seeing his work in the future. ANN WEINSTEIN ROANOKE
