OBIT CARTER, MATTHEW CLARK, ("MATT")

CARTER, Matthew Clark, ("Matt"), 6, of Vinton, died Sunday, May 9, 1993. He was a kindergarten student at W. E. Cundiff Elementary School. Matt was the son of Larry and Susan Carter. Also surviving is a brother, Ross Weston Carter; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Brown, Roanoke, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Carter, Martinsville; a great-grandfather, Henry Schwerkolt, Brookings, Oregon; aunts, Loretta Carter, and Barbara Kendrick, both of Martinsville; numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins. Private interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. A memorial service will be held at Vinton Baptist Church, 11 a.m. Wednesday. Dr. William L. Ross, the Rev. Kevin Meadows and the Rev. David Elks will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. Memorials may be made to Vinton Baptist Church, W.E. Cundiff Elementary School, or the Vinton Booster Club.
