According to a preliminary report of the ABC 1993-94 schedule the network has canceled Arnold's mid-season entry "The Jackie Thomas Show."
This follows Arnold's announcement Friday that he was tired of waiting for word from ABC on "Jackie's" renewal, and planned to ditch the series and the network to start a new series on CBS, perhaps as soon as this fall. There was no comment from CBS.
Besides the axing of "Jackie," other ABC shows likely to be canceled, according to USA Today, include: "Homefront," "Life Goes On," "Delta," "Doogie Howser, M.D.," "Civil Wars," "Sirens," "Jack's Place," "Home Free" and "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles." "Dinosaurs" is expected to return in mid-season.
Among new ABC shows reportedly coming in the fall, also reported in part in the Daily News and New York Post:
"Grace Under Fire," starring comedian Brett Butler in a sitcom about a single mother juggling career and kids.
"Missing Persons," a drama starring Daniel J. Travanti of "Hill Street Blues."
"Joe's Life," a sitcom starring Peter Onorati of "Civil Wars."
"Phenom," starring William Devane ("Knots Landing") and Judith Light ("Who's the Boss?") in a comedy about a teen tennis star.
"Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," an action-adventure series.
A sitcom starring Ben Savage (brother of "Wonder Years' " Fred).
"Do the Strand," a romantic mystery starring Bill Campbell.
A comedy-reality show starring comedian and "Tonight" correspondent Paula Poundstone.
"Thea," starring Thea Vidale in a sitcom about an idiosyncratic widow with four children.
