OBIT MCDONALD, JAMES RICHARD

McDONALD, James Richard, 92, of Blacksburg, died Tuesday, May 11, 1993, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mr. McDonald was born in Blacksburg, February 2, 1901, to the late Charles Black and Kate L. McDonald. He was a retired life long farmer of Montgomery County, a former director of Dominion Bank and Montgomery County Savings and Loan and a member of Blacksburg Lions Club. Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Reynold McDonald. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, James L. "Jim" and Martha McDonald, Blacksburg; two grandsons and wives, James L. "Jim" Jr. and Brenda McDonald, Fairfax, William H. "Bill" and Teresa McDonald, Blacksburg; one sister, Katharine J. McDonald, Shawsville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 13, at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Herbert Hobbs officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 931, Blacksburg, Va. 24063. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
