GROUP MULLS COURT ACTION ON ORDINANCE

A representative of the Citizens' Coalition for Fair Government said the group is considering court action to block a mandatory hook-on provision of a waste-water treatment ordinance approved Tuesday by the Wythe County Board of Supervisors.

Herbert Reininger said the coalition has hired an attorney.

"We await his decision as to what the next step will be, but there will be legal action taken," Reininger said.

The coalition was formed in response to the proposed mandatory hook-on provision of the ordinance, which has been under study all year.

People in the Max Meadows-Fort Chiswell area who have gone to the expense of building state-approved septic systems feel they should not have to give them up.

The project, aimed at opening the eastern part of Wythe County to industrial and business development along the Interstate 81-77 corridor, will cost an estimated $9.1 million.
