ST. ALBANS SEMINAR ON DEPRESSION

An illness that affects one in four American women and one in nine American men leaves them less able to function physically than people with diabetes or arthritis and less able to function socially than those with lung or back problems. Fewer than one-third will seek help, but more than 80 percent of those who do seek help will recover.

Depression is not just a "blue" mood, and it is not because of personal weakness. It is an illness like pneumonia or diabetes, and once recognized and diagnosed, it can be treated with a high degree of success.

An educational seminar entitled "Recognizing and Treating Depression in Adults and Adolescents" is being presented on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the conference center at St. Albans Psychiatric Hospital.

There is no charge, but advance registration is requested. Please call 633-4531 or 633-4523. If you call after business hours, leave your name and the number of people you are registering on the answering machine.
