NAVY BRINGS 6 OFFICERS ASHORE FOR TAILHOOK

Six senior Navy officers have been given shore duty to make them readily available to the admiral overseeing the Tailhook disciplinary proceedings, the Navy announced Thursday.

The group includes the executive officer of the aircraft carrier USS Constellation as well as the commander of the Navy's ace flying team, the Blue Angels, the Navy said.

That officer's absence will mean the cancellation of the team's public events through the end of the month, a Navy spokesman said.

A Navy statement said the action does not necessarily portend disciplinary action against any of the six officers. - Associated Press
