Stewart ran the 800 in 1 minute, 59.4 seconds, and Northside's relay team ran 1,600 meters in 3:32.2.
Northside had 143 points to second-place Salem's 131. The competition was cut short by rain on Wednesday. In other boys' action Thursday, Salem's Keith Moyer won the 200-meter dash, adding to his victory in the 100 meters Wednesday.
In the girls' meet, Rockbridge County's Kady Schnieter won the 800 meters and aided the winning 1,600-meter relay team as the Wildcats won the team competition. Rockbridge County totaled 124 points to second-place Alleghany's 111.

At William Fleming, the Colonels swept Franklin County in boys' and girls' Roanoke Valley District meets. The Fleming boys won 75-57 as Leroy Witt had firsts in the 100- and 200-yard dashes while anchoring the winning 400-yard relay teams.
In the girls' meet, Fleming won 66-63 as Keyshia Anderson won the 220- and the 400-yard dashes while anchoring the winning 400-yard relay team.
\ SOCCER: At River's Edge, Patrick Henry edged William Fleming 2-1, leaving the Patriots in a tie with Cave Spring for first place in the Roanoke Valley District. PH (6-3-2, 5-1-2) avenged an earlier tie with the Colonels as Jack Edwards scored both goals. McCoy Darby had two key saves on bouncing shots to preserve the victory. Fleming (4-7-1, 1-6-1) got its goal from Brian Melton.
At Front Royal, John Logan's two goals backed up goalkeeper John Kinney's 10-save shutout as North Cross beat Randolph Macon Academy 3-0 to win the Virginia Independent Conference regular-season title. A.J. Esguerra had North Cross' other goal. In the VIC tournament, North Cross (15-1-2, 6-0) plays host to Miller School at 10 a.m. Saturday. Fishburne Military Academy faces Hargrave Military Academy at noon and the championship is at 4 p.m.
\ GIRLS' SOCCER: At River's Edge, Patrick Henry (8-2-1) defeated Martinsville 5-3 as Carrie Moore scored three goals for the Patriots.
\ SOFTBALL: At Buchanan, Glenvar avenged an earlier loss and stopped James River 5-4, leaving the two teams tied for the Pioneer District lead with each team having to finish against Craig County. Bobbie Jo Wright allowed only two hits in avenging an earlier loss as she struck out six.
The Highlanders (11-5, 8-1) scored three times in the fifth inning when Kristi Robinson and Jennifer Dennis singled in runs and another scored on an error. The Knights are 13-2, 8-1.
Amy Helton and Amy Ford each drove in three runs as host Roanoke Valley Christian whipped Stuart Hall 14-0 in the first round of the Blue Ridge Conference tournament. Helton was 3-for-3 and scored three runs, and Ford was 2-for-3. RVC (7-3, 11-4) plays North Cross at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross High School in Lynchburg.
Lynchburg Christian Academy scored five runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings and beat North Cross 14-4 in the other Blue Ridge game at Lynchburg.
Timberlake Christian's seventh-inning rally gave it a 10-9 victory over host Roanoke Catholic in another first-round game. Roanoke Catholic scored eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 9-8 lead. But an RBI single by Jullie Fariss and a run-scoring fielder's choice by Michelle Carmody put Timberlake on top. For Roanoke Catholic (7-6 overall), Liz Landry was 3-for-4, including a home run, and four RBI; Wendy Murdock was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Timberlake's Jamie Shepherd was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.
\ LACROSSE: At Roanoke College in Salem, Todd Pasfield had two goals, including the game winner, as Vinton defeated Patrick Henry 5-3 in the championship game of the Roanoke Valley High School Lacrosse League. Vinton (12-4, 7-1) got 12 saves in goal from Kirk Lancaster. It was the second straight league championship for Vinton.
