Pulaski Furniture Corp. of Pulaski and Martinsville on Thursday reported first-quarter net income of $683,000, or 24 cents a share, up from $235,000, or 8 cents a share, in the 1992 quarter. Sales were $30.5 million against $26.96 million a year ago.
For the first half, net income was $1.4 million, or 49 cents a share, compared to $450,000, or 16 cents a share, in the 1992 period. Sales were $60.1 million against $55.2 million in the 1992 period.
The company declared a dividend of 13 cents a share payable on June 15 to stockholders on June 1.
\ Penn Virginia Corp.
Penn Virginia Corp., Philadelphia owner of coal deposits in Southwest Virginia, reported first-quarter income up 55 percent to $2.6 million, or 61 cents a share, from a loss of $1.3 million, or 31 cents a share, in the 1992 period. The board declared a quarterly dividend of 45 cents a share, payable June 17 to shareholders on May 27.
\ Dibrell Brothers
Dibrell Brothers Inc., Danville tobacco processor and importer and exporter of fresh flowers, on Thursday reported record nine-month net income of $26.08 million, or $1.96 per share, up 36.2 percent from $19.15 million, or $1.45 per share, in the 1992 period. Net sales increased 2.8 percent to $805.4 million.
For the quarter, net income rose 20.7 percent to a record $6.96 million, or 52 cents per share, from $5.77 million, or 44 cents per share, in the 1992 quarter. Net sales fell 1.9 percent to $259.5 million from $264.4 million.
