OBIT-SAWYER, NANCY BIRD

SAWYER, Nancy Bird, 67, of Wytheville, died Thursday morning, May 13, 1993, at her residence. She was born in Bland County, the daughter of the late Ben L. and Rosa Jones Bird. She was a graduate of Bland High School, attended Radford College, and was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Company and the Virginia Health Council in Richmond for many years. She was a member of the Wytheville Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Sawyer; and a sister, Rosa Bird Mann. She is survived by one sister, Carolyn Bird Bane, Bland; one brother, Ben L. Bird, Princeton, W.Va. A memorial service will be held at the Bland-Leyburn Presbyterian Church, Bland, Monday, 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bland Cancer Fund or Bland Cemetery Fund.
