OBIT-SMITH, MARY LUCY PARKER

SMITH, Mary Lucy Parker, 86, of 1405 Chestnut Ave., Buena Vista, formerly of Goode, died Tuesday, May 11, 1993, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She was born in Bedford County on August 2, 1906, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John William Parker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kester Boyce Smith; a son, Richard Smith. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Bobby Smith, Emporia, Henry Smith, Goode; two daughters, Virginia Lowe, Buena Vista, Annie Mayhew, Goode; 18 grandchildren including two special granddaughters, Shirley Wheeler and Brenda Wilson; 39 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 1993, at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wayne Green and Rev. Odell Humphries officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
