WOULD FIELDER HAVE CONFLICT OF INTEREST?

AS A CITIZEN of Roanoke, I have thought long and hard about the outcome of this fall's election for commissioner of revenue. It seems that there would be a conflict of interest if Marsha Compton Fielder were to become the city's new commissioner as long as her father continues to be commissioner for the county. We're talking about two localities that aren't getting along right now, financially speaking.

I don't understand the political laws, if any, in the city. I feel that it is unfair for someone to set up residence in the city long enough for them to run for a political office. Everyone who knows Ms. Fielder knows that she has a home at the lake. Is that fair to those who have made Roanoke our home? Anyone can move in here, set up residence and try to take over an office, which has never concerned them before. Think about it.

Please vote for someone who has and will continue to have an interest in city government and its citizens. GRAYSON PECK ROANOKE
