Hudson (10-4), who tossed back-to-back one-hitters in her previous two starts, struck out six and walked one. She lost a perfect game with two outs in the fifth.
Franklin County (10-6 overall, 4-3 in the district) has won three straight.
In other softball:
Carla Goff took a no-hitter two outs into the seventh inning before losing it and had to settle for a one-hitter as Liberty bombed visiting Stauton River 7-0 in a Seminole District game.
Goff fanned seven and walked two as Liberty improved to 12-3-1. Stephanie Klunk, Kelly Witt, Gina Overstreet, and Nicole Shackelford each had two hits for the Minettes.
\ TRACK: The Floyd County boys' team outscored Giles 32-12 in the last three events to win the Mountain Empire District track meet 153-145 1/2 at Independence on Friday. The Spartans had led by 6 1/2 points.
Steve Johnson of Giles captured wins in four events to lead all competitors. He won the long jump, triple jump, high jump and 100 meters.
In the girls' meet, Giles outscored Floyd County 57-15 in distance races to capture first place. The two teams won seven events each.
Monica Lucas of Floyd led the girls field, winning the long jump, triple jump, 100-, 200-, and 400-meter races.
Giles won with 187 points, followed by Floyd County with 164 and Auburn with 50.
\ BASEBALL: Zack Foley tossed a six hitter with nine strikeouts and Brian Hawks, Steve Dalton, Casey Herbin, and Willie Bryant each hit home runs - Hawks' a grand slam - as host Carroll County clobbered Radford 14-3 to clinch the New River District baseball title.
Carroll County (13-2 overall, 5-0 in the district) clinched at least a tie for the regular-season district championship. Derek Englehard hit the first pitch of the game for a home run for Radford (1-4 in the district).
At Blacksburg, Brock Whitlock smashed a two-run homer as Christiansburg downed the host Indians 9-6 to earn their first New River District victory. Jay Safford had three hits and three RBI for Blacksburg (7-8 overall, 3-2 in the district). The Demons are 5-11, 1-4 New River).
Appomattox scored five runs in the third inning to erase a three-run deficit and went on to a 5-3 Seminole District victory over guest Jefferson Forest. Ryan Gilleland had a two-run home run, his sixth homer of the year, for Jefferson Forest (12-4 overall, 12-4 in the district). Appomattox is 7-8, 7-8.
At Floyd, Mike Blankenship cracked a two-run homer and Sean Harris drove in the winning run in the seventh inning as Narrows defeated the Buffaloes 3-2 in a Mountain Empire District game.
At Calfee Park in Pulaski, pinch hitter Billy Cole tripled to lead off the seventh inning and scored on a wild pitch as Cave Spring defeated Pulaski County 2-1 in a Roanoke Valley District game to improve to 12-4 overall, 9-1 in the district. Jamie Arnold struck out 10 for the Cougars (3-12, 2-8).
Glenvar's Trevor Willis broke open a close game with a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Highlanders went on to score seven runs with two outs and beat Craig County 8-5 in a Pioneer District game on the Highlanders' field.
At Moneta, Jerry Padgett was doubled twice to lead Liberty to a 9-2 Seminole District victory over Staunton River.
\ TENNIS: Thursday at Radford University, Patrick Henry's Andrew Thomas defeated Ben Gold of Cave Spring for the Roanoke Valley District boys' singles title 6-4, 6-4.
In the opening match of the team competition, Pulaski County edged William Fleming 5-4 before being crushed 9-0 by Cave Spring in the semifinals. In the other semifinal match, Patrick Henry upended Franklin County 6-3.
Albert Collier and Rogerick Allen pf William Fleming stopped Ben Gold and Pete Monahan of Cave Spring 6-4, 6-3 for the doubles title.
The team finals pitting Cave Spring and Patrick Henry are 10 a.m. today at River's Edge in Roanoke.
\ SOCCER: At Forest, Jefferson Forest captured the Seminole District regular-season title as Tim Greene scored on an assist from Josh Newman with 11 minutes remaining to lead the Cavaliers over Amherst 1-0. Jefferson Forest goalkeeper Jeff Masseth and Lancer goalkeeper Rex Hibbert had eight saves each.
With the win, the Cavaliers (10-2-1, 10-1-1 Seminole) earned a bye in the Region 3 tournament. They will face Rustburg, who defeated Liberty 5-0.
Goalkeepers Chris Andres and Kevin Schug were the standouts as Patrick Henry and Blacksburg fought to a scoreless standoff at River's Edge Sports Complex.
Justin Brittle had six saves to record his second shutout and Brandon Bourne was credited with a goal that actually was a defensive lapse as Cave Spring beat Pulaski County in a Roanoke Valley District game on the Knights field.
