PARTIES READY TO PICK AGEE SEAT NOMINEES

Democrats and Republicans today will ratify their choices for the fall matchup between Howard Packett and Morgan Griffith for the House of Delegates seat now held by Del. Steven Agee, R-Salem.

Republicans will nominate Griffith, a Salem lawyer seeking office for the first time, at a convention in Shawsville.

Democrats will nominate Packett, a Salem city councilman who runs an advertising firm in Roanoke, at a convention in Salem.

The district covers Salem, most of Southwest Roanoke County and eastern Montgomery County.

Agee, who has represented the district for 11 years, is giving up his seat to seek the Republican nomination for attorney general.
