OBIT-BANE, MARY INDIA HARMAN

BANE, Mary India Harman, 80, of Christiansburg, died Friday, May 14, 1993, in Montgomery County Hospital. Mrs. Bane was born in Montgomery County on January 26, 1913, to the late Albert and Ida Thompson Harman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. Bane. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Howard E. Jr. and Coleen Bane; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Samuel H. Nixon Jr.; four grandchildren and their families, Samuel H. Nixon III and Laura W. Nixon, Bumpass, Va., Howard E. Bane III and Amal M. Bane, Smyrna, Ga., Rebecca Ellen Nixon, Brattleboro, Vermont, Connie B. Walters and Eric Walters, Charlotte, N.C.; one great-granddaughter, Amanda Kate Nixon, Bumpass, Va.; nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Geneva Bane Hall, Oxon Hill, Md., Ann Bane Wallace, Pulaski. She was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church and had been active in the WMU and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Christiansburg Woman's Club. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 16, at 3 p.m. at Main Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Hungate and the Rev. Pete Duplisis officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, at Richardson-Horne Funeral Home. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial gifts be made to the Memorial Fund of the MAIN STREET BAPTIST CHURCH, P.O.
