One change is that there will be no staggered starting times for different grades. The first day for all students will be Sept. 7.
The last day of school is scheduled for June 6. Any weather-caused closings would be made up June 7, 8 and 9. The next makeup day would be May 30, now planned as the Memorial Day holiday, and March 31 from the spring break after that. Any additional makeups would be added after June 9.
Another change is that each school has more flexibility in scheduling its teacher workdays. The only divisionwide workday will be Jan. 24. The others will be scheduled by each school for its teachers.
Each school will submit its own schedule for 19 teacher workdays. Nine days will be chosen by each school, with the hours for the remaining 10 days during time before school when teachers will report early.
Some schools may have teachers come in at 7:45 a.m., others at 8 a.m., before the 8:30 a.m. start of the school day. Again, this is left to individual schools.
Workdays will emphasize staff development.
