WRITER WANNABES OFFER READINGS AT BOOKSTORE

Aspiring writers from Pulaski and Blacksburg will be among those reading from their work today at Blue Ridge Books, 148 W. Main St. in Wytheville.

The bookstore has been the site of several writing classes by Liza Field and Robert McKinney in recent months.

Their students from the New River Valley, Wytheville, Galax and Sparta, N.C., will read from their poetry, fiction and local history.

McKinney holds a master's of professional writing degree from the University of Southern California.

Field has taught writing at the University of Michigan, Virginia Western Community College, and Southwestern College in Kansas.

She is teaching weekly classes and plans to offer weekly poetry classes for young adults, ages 13-19, starting June 15, and for children ages 9-12 starting June 16. Further information is available by calling the store.
