Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rice Thomson, Jr. of Roanoke are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Pamela Judeth Thomson, to Matthew Claude Lucas, son of Mr. Dennis Lee Lucas of Richmond, Va., and the late Jane Ledford Lucas. Pamela is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas Cutcliff and Mrs. Marcella Shea Thomson and the late Mr. Paul Rice Thomson, Sr., all formerly of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Abingdon High School and Virginia Tech, and is employed as a teacher with Roanoke County Schools. Matthew is a graduateof Manchester High School and VirginiaTech, and is employed by Allstate Insurance Company. They plan to bemarried on August 7, 1993 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Roanoke.
