WAKATSUKI-HUGHES
Rijena Dianne Hughes and Daryl Katsumi Wakatsuki were married March 20,
1993, at Haiku Gardens in Kaneohe, Hawaii with Rev. David Kim, pastor of
Parker United Methodist Church officiating. The reception was held at the
Chart House Restaurant in Kaneohe. The matron of honor was Debra Southern
Starner of Christiansburg, Virginia. The best man was Mark Wakatsuki, brother
of the groom. Ringbearer was the groom's nephew, Kurt Wakatsuki, son of Mark
and Koren Wakatsuki. The bride's designer gown of white taffeta featured an
elongated bodice of re-embroidered silk adorned with sequins and scollopes at
the off-the -shoulder neckline and accented with silk bows at each shoulder.
Her finger-tip illusion veil was attached to a juliet headpiece circled with
silk roses, stephanotis and pearls. The full skirt of her gown ended in a
chapel train. She carried a bouquet of white cattelya and dendrobium orchids
accented by pink roses and stems of ivy. The bride is the daughter of Lois and
Glen Pennington of Dublin, Virginia. She graduated from Pulaski High School
and is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The bride is employed
by Saint Francis Medical Center in Honolulu. The groom is the son of Katsunari
and Akiko Wakatsuki of Waipahu, Hawaii. He is a graduate of Kapiolani College
in Honolulu. He is employed by Queens Medical Center in Honolulu. The
newlyweds will reside in Kapolei, Hawaii, after a wedding trip to Lake Tahoe,
California.
