Anna Yates led top-ranked Virginia (14-1) with four goals and had the assist on Breen's game-winner. Cherie Greer and Erin Stewart had two goals each.

Sarah Winters scored four goals for Harvard, the 1992 runner-up. Harvard (13-3) led by three goals twice in the first half before Virginia cut the deficit to 6-5 at the half.
