TRACK & FIELD HOKIES PLACE IN METRO TOURNAMENT

Dave Hannett finished second in the decathlon at the Metro Conference Outdoor Championships at Tampa, Fla.

Hannett compiled 6,285 points. Virginia Commonwealth's Dave Norman won the event with 6,390. Hannett won the 100-meter dash (11.04 seconds) and the 110-meter hurdles (15.66). He was also second in the long jump, high jump, 400-meter dash and 1,500-meter run and third in the discus.

In other men's competition, Chris William was first in the pole vault for the Hokies. He cleared 15 feet, 6 1/4 inches. Spencer Miller was third in the hammer throw (149-6).
