OBIT JOHNSON, JOSEPH M. ("JOE")

JOHNSON, Joseph M. ("Joe"), 91, of Vinton, died Saturday, May 15, 1993, at Carriage Hills Retirement Center, Bedford, Va. Mr. Johnson was a retired employee of Texaco Inc. He was a member of Vinton Baptist Church and Vinton Lodge #204 A.F.&A.M. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bond Johnson. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Melvin B. and Polly C. Johnson, Roanoke; daughter, Muriel J. Crowder, St. Albans, W.Va.; ten grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother, W. Glenn Johnson, Bedford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Vinton First Aid Crew, P.O. Box 314, Vinton, Va. 24179. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel by the Rev. William E. Crowder Jr. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Oakey's Vinton.
