PLANE NARROWLY MISSES HOMES, PILOT, WIFE INJURED

A pilot and his wife were injured when their small plane lost power and crashed Sunday in a Prince William County subdivision, narrowly missing nearby houses, Virginia State Police said.

The single-engine Cessna 172 crashed about 3:20 p.m. in the 9000 block of Clover Hill Road, Caldwell said.

The pilot, Dale Minton, 60, of Leesburg, and his wife, Barbara Minton, 56, were hospitalized at Prince William Hospital, Caldwell said.

The Mintons were returning home to Leesburg when they developed engine trouble and were detouring to Manassas when the engine stalled and the plane crashed nose down in the subdivision, Caldwell said.
