OBIT CHEWNING, ARBIE RAY HAMBLIN
CHEWNING, Arbie Ray Hamblin, 81, of Mechanicsburg Community, Bland, died
Sunday May 16, 1993, at Kegley Manor Nursing Home, Bastian. She was born June
9, 1911, at Long Spur, Va., the daughter of the late William Hoge and Virgie
Ethel Bond Hamblin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Foster
Chewning; and a son, Donald Chewning. She was a member of the Byrnes Chapel
Methodist Church. She is survived by three sons, Larry A. Chewning, Elmer
Chewning, and Bobby Chewning, all of Bland; one daughter, Mrs. Gertrude C.
White, Dublin; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral services
will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the A. Vest and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White
Gate, with the Rev. Ted Anders, Rev. Jerry Long, and Rev. Homer Sawyer
officiating. Burial will be in the Hoge's Chapel Cemetery, Bland. Visiting
will be Monday after 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the family receiving
friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Hoge's Chapel Cemetery
Fund.
