PEER TO PROTECT WHISTLE BLOWERS

Federal and state employees who are concerned about the way their agencies manage the public's natural resources now have a champion to turn to when they "blow the whistle."

Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) has been formed in Eugene, Ore., to "get internal watchdogs agitating for change from within the agencies that employ them," said founder Jeff DeBonis.

The group intends to organize staff employees on the front lines of defense against environmental denigration.

Among the activities PEER plans for 1993 is a national conference for government employees on "Protecting Integrity and Ethics."
