Sophomore Brian Sharp matched the low round of the day with a 2-under-par 70 and the Hokies got a 72 from senior Clayton Friend, who finished second in the individual competition with a 54-hole total of 216, two shots behind Ricky Michelmore of South Florida.
Tech, which led after each round, had a three-day total of 887. Virginia Commonwealth was six shots back, followed by South Florida at 896.
"Everybody played solidly this weekend and we were never in a situation where four guys were out there by themselves," Tech coach Jay Hardwick said. "Winning the Metro Conference championship has been our goal since the beginning of the season."
Sharp tied for third with VCU's Mike Benner at 219 and Tech's Tom Graziano was tied for eighth at 224. The Hokies' Lewis Conner, a sophomore from Roanoke, tied for 13th at 227 and Sean Farrell of Tech tied for 16th at 229, although he posted one of the low four scores by Tech on Monday.
Friend and Sharp were named to the all-conference team along with Michelmore, Benner and Geoffrey Goldstein of VCU. Michelmore, a freshman from Johannesburg, South Africa, trailed Benner by two shots before shooting a final-round 70.

Longwood begins play in the Division II baseball playoffs on Thursday against Mansfield State (Pa.) in the North Atlantic regional in Slippery Rock, Pa. Longwood (25-7-1), which is making its third straight trip to the playoffs, is vying for a bid to the national championship May 29-June 5 in Montgomery, Ala.
Mike Reedy, a left fielder on the Virginia Tech baseball team, was selected to the GTE University Division Academic All-District III baseball team. Reedy graduated from Tech this spring with a triple major in political science, economics and international studies. He hit .301 in 44 regular-season games for the Hokies.
Radford junior Brian Pardue was also selected to the 10-member team. The players are now eligible for the national team which will be announced in June.
Four members of the NCAA champion Virginia women's lacrosse team earned spots on an All-America team.
Erin Stewart and Cherie Greer were named to the first team by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Amy Breen and Tara Kelly earned second-team honors.
Virginia's Jen Callen dropped a three-set match to Lindsey Nimmo of Illinois on Monday in the singles competition a the NCAA women's tennis tournament in Gainesville, Fla.
Callen, ranked 23rd in the nation and the first Cavalier ever to compete in the singles portion of the tournament, lost 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 and ended her season with a 27-8 record. Nimmo is ranked 21st in the country.
