OBIT GARRETT, ETHEL CHILTON

GARRETT, Ethel Chilton, 93, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, May 17, 1993, at the Roanoke United Methodist Home. She was the widow of Harry W. Garrett, and a member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church for 81 years. Mrs. Garrett was born in Thaxton and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (Electa Chapter #33) for over 74 years. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Leftwich Chilton, Florence, S.C., and Howard Oren Chilton, Richmond, Va. Surviving are a sister, Hilda C. Davis, Richmond; a niece, Annabelle C. Minter, Richmond; a nephew, Howard Chilton Jr., Union Hall; and devoted friends, Eddie and Shirley Wheeler, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside, Evergreen Burial Park at noon, Wednesday, with Dr. Jerry O. Campbell officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Greene Memorial United Methodist Church (P.O. Box 1305, Roanoke, VA 24007). Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
