OBIT UMBERGER, WALLACE RANDOLPH SR.
UMBERGER, Wallace Randolph Sr., 73, of 875 North Eighth St., Wytheville,
died Monday, May 17, 1993, in the Radford Community Hospital. He was a retired
supervisor for Bonanza Inc., and was with the Kroger Company for 35 years. He
was the son of the late Solomon and Maude Felty Umberger. He was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II and is survived by his wife, Beuena Denny Umberger of
Wytheville; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Rev. Charles Minetree of
Houma, La.; one son, Dr. Wallace Randolph Umberger Jr. of Chapel Hill, N.C.;
two sisters, Irene Williams of York, S.C., Mary Ruth Earhart of Erwin, Tenn.;
special friend, Benjamin Keaton of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 21, 1993, at 11 a.m. in the Holy Trinity
Lutheran Church, conducted by Pastor Roger Klutzz, with interment to follow in
the West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Grubb Funeral
Home, Thursday evening from 7 to 9. The Wytheville Masonic Lodge #82 AF & AM
will conduct a memorial service at 8 Thursday evening at the funeral home. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church
Building Fund. The Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
