La Toya Jackson refused to press assault charges against her husband, so a judge dismissed the case.

Jackson, 37, was hospitalized April 21 after Jack Gordon, 54, allegedly beat her and threw a chair at her during an argument in their New York apartment.

Gordon's attorney, Gerald Lefcourt, said the pop star provoked the incident by coming at his client with a knife. But Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Loewy said Jackson grabbed the knife to defend herself.

Jackson suffered bruises and a cut lip.

Judge Peter Benitez dismissed the charges Tuesday. Barbara Thompson, spokeswoman for the Manhattan district attorney's office, said Jackson decided to have the matter resolved in Family Court.

Randy Owen, lead singer of country music's Alabama, was reported in good condition after doctors found no sign of a heart blockage.

Owen, 43, was admitted to Baptist Medical Center-Montclair in Birmingham, Ala., on Tuesday, complaining of chest pains.

Dr. Randy Harrison, a cardiologist, said a catheterization, in which dye is injected into the heart to show any blockages, turned up no abnormalities.

"He's doing fine. That's all I know," said Kim Armstrong, a spokeswoman for Alabama.

Frederic Fekkai, hairdresser to the stars, is booked through August, but he managed to fit in Hillary Rodham Clinton during her weekend trip to New York.

Fekkai, or King Cut as he is sometimes called, replaced the first lady's shoulder-length blunt cut with a shorter style layered on the sides, slightly tousled and swept away from her face.

After a weekend of hot speculation, Fekkai took credit for Clinton's new hairdo on Tuesday.

Fekkais became a superstar stylist after opening his Frederic Fekkai Beauty Center in 1989. His customers include Jodie Foster, Demi Moore, Bruce Willis, Steffi Graf, Twyla Tharp and Jane Pauley.
