White, who has lettered in wrestling, was named the chapter's top member of 1992-93, and the Patrick Henry group was named the top high school group.
White, a senior, has been active in the fellowship for three years. He was vice president during his junior year and is co-president this year. He has attended several retreats and Boys' State.
White, who has a 4.0 grade average, plans to attend Roanoke College and major in math.
The Patrick Henry group was honored for improving its membership and activities. The Huddle more than doubled membership over 1991-92 and sent five members to the fall, spring and winter fellowship retreats.
The group also began a daily Bible study this spring and held yard sales to help sponsor students to attend the retreats. Lloyd Woods is the adviser.
Woods, a fellowship leader for more than 25 years at Patrick Henry and the old Jefferson High School, and Barry Trent, who has been a student and adult leader at Byrd for almost 20 years, were presented plaques for their service.
Sophomores Kevin Divers of William Byrd and Robert Seagle of Salem also were awarded a grant to attend the FCA Golf Camp at Pine Needles, N.C., July 25-29.
The $460 grant will be shared and is given, based on FCA and golf involvement, academics and need.
Thirteen others received plaques as outstanding leaders. They are Michelle Fowler of Cave Spring; Brent Poythress, Glenvar; Kristin Toissant, Lord Botetourt; Amy Black, James River; Aaron Lange, North Cross; Brooke Briscoe and Crystal Palmer, Northside High; Emily Pecoul, Patrick Henry; Holly Woods, Salem; Elaina Scyphers, William Fleming; Beth Fox, Roanoke Catholic; Jill Higdon, Northside Junior; and Jonathan Gruver, Franklin County.
