Helen Abbott Looney, the incumbent, and Stanley R. Osborne are seeking an at-large seat. The term begins July 1, and the Craig Board of Supervisors will make the appointment June 9.
Looney, who was named to the board in June 1992 to fill an unexpired term, lives in the Alleghany Magisterial District. She was educated in the county's schools and has lived in Craig all her life.
Osborne, who moved to the Paint Bank area in July 1992 after serving 12 years in the Air Force, teaches accounting at ECPI Computer Institute in Roanoke. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska and will have five children in McCleary Elementary School in the fall.
During their regular meeting Tuesday, the supervisors received no public comment on the county's proposed $4.4 million budget for the 1993-94 fiscal year.
The supervisors will vote on the budget in June.
In another matter, the supervisors authorized advertising a resolution that would eliminate damage stamps for hunting. Revenue from sale of the stamps has been used to partially reimburse farmers for crop loss caused by wild animals.
But the resolution says the cost of administering the program is greater than the revenue the county gets from the stamps.
