SHAWMUT CENTER IS NEW HOME FOR BRUINS, CELTICS

Boston Garden's days are numbered.

The future home of the Celtics and Bruins will be named The Shawmut Center.

Delaware North Cos. Inc., developer of the new Boston Garden, announced Thursday that Shawmut Bank had won the right to have its name on the sports arena.

The deal had been reported days ago, with Shawmut apparently paying about $30 million to win the bidding.

Shawmut didn't disclose its bidding price Thursday.
