2ND HILLSVILLE TOWN EMPLOYEE RESIGNS

A town employee resigned Thursday on the heels of the town manager's leaving for a new job.

Ray E. Hill, general superintendent and Sewer Department supervisor, had been with the town for 11 years. He has also worked part-time with the Carroll County Public Service Authority during that time.

Both jobs were becoming full-time, he said, so he had to decide which one to leave. He said bickering on Town Council "just made it easier for me to choose."

Town Manager Jack Cardin announced his resignation this month to take a new job in Lowell, N.C.

Cardin's resignation is effective at the end of May.

Council appointed Administrative Assistant Judy Bolt as acting manager, with a $500 raise, May 10, then rescinded both the appointment and raise May 11.
