FEMALE CREW WILL JUDGE BOWE-FERGUSON BOUT

Patricia Jarman will make history - again - Saturday night when she takes her seat at ringside for heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe's title defense against journeyman Jesse Ferguson at Washington's RFK Stadium.

Jarman, from Las Vegas, will be part of the first all-female judging crew to work a heavyweight championship bout. Also assigned to the fight are Jean Williams of Atlantic City, N.J., and Sheila Harmon-Martin of Arlington, Va.

Bowe weighed in at 244 pounds Thursday for Saturday's fight. Ferguson weighed 224.

WBC heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis had surgery on his right hand in New York and will be unable to spar for up to two months, his doctor said.
