The Salem right-hander lost for the seventh time in as many decisions as the Buccaneers fell 6-3 to the Lynchburg Red Sox in a Carolina League baseball game.
Nursing a 1-0 lead after four innings, Konuszewski was touched for four runs in the fifth. He hurt his own cause by walking three batters in the inning, two of whom scored.
After two walks and a single loaded the bases with one out, Randy Brown's RBI single tied the game at 1. Konuszewski then forced home the go-ahead run when he walked Steve Rodriguez. Reliever Kevin Rychel was greeted with a two-run single by Jose Malave.
Salem cut it to 4-2 on Mike Brown's solo home run in the sixth, but insurance runs by Lynchburg in the sixth and seventh ended the Bucs' hopes.
The loss cost Salem (19-20) a chance to climb above .500 for the first time since winning its season opener. The Bucs return to Municipal Field tonight to open a seven-game homestand against Prince William and Winston-Salem.
