TENN. YOUTH CHORALE TO SING

The TENNESSEE YOUTH CHORALE is coming to Radford next month. The community youth choir will perform a variety of classical and contemporary anthems and spirituals June 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Radford, 201 Fourth St.

The group also will do some Broadway show tunes and interpretive dance numbers.

Members of the troupe will stay with Presbyterian families in Radford.

Directed by Joe and Mary Stephenson, the chorale was organized in early 1990 and has toured extensively across the Eastern United States.

Every January, the nonprofit group puts on a major Broadway-style musical to raise money for its summer concert tour.

The Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church Youth Handbell Choir of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., will accompany the chorale.

Sunday at the Presbyterian Church of Radford, Peggy Reinhold will be the guest speaker for the church's Witness Season program.

The service begins at 11 a.m. An informal reception will follow in the parlor.

A HEART FUND BENEFIT GOSPEL MUSIC CONCERT gets under way tonight at 7 at Auburn High School on Virginia 8 in Riner. Admission is free, but a Heart Fund offering will be taken.

On hand to perform will be The Mannon Family, The Farley Brothers, Wanda Gail, The Gospel Strings and The Otis Linkous Family Singers.

Sunday at 7:30 p.m., there will be music and a guest speaker, the Rev. Jube Burke.

Yard sale season is starting. The BELMONT CHRISTIAN BODYBUILDERS youth group will hold its "Giant Yard Sale" today from 7 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on U.S. 460, just down the road from New River Pontiac-GMC-Nissan.

Proceeds will pay the youth group's way to the Southern Christian Youth Convention in Myrtle Beach, S.C., in July.

On the revival circuit:

The WEST RADFORD CHURCH OF GOD, 1818 First St. will hold revival services with the Rev. Ron Caudill today and Sunday at 7 p.m.

The Searchers gospel trio will sing at each service.

A monthlong revival continues at SHAWSVILLE CONGREGATIONAL HOLINESS CHURCH, Alleghany Springs Road.

Husband and wife Southern gospel team BOB AND SANDY MULLINS of Second Chance Ministries in Christiansburg will resume their appearances in Virginia at the end of the month.

On May 30 at 10:30 a.m., they'll conduct the entire service at the Salvation Army, 525 Commerce St., Pulaski.

Then, the couple will join with other area gospel groups and soloists on June 5 at 7 p.m. for the Gospel Sing and Praise Rally at their home base, Belview United Methodist Church, 3619 Onyx St., just off Peppers Ferry Road (Virginia 114), 2 1/2 miles east of the Radford Army Ammunition Plant.

The offering from this event will go toward the building and renovations fund at Camp Alta Mons in Shawsville.

Alta Mons, sponsored by the Roanoke District United Methodist churches, offers summer camp for youngsters and young adults.

The 10:55 a.m. service Sunday at CHRISTIANSBURG PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 107 W. Main St., will recognize the church's Youth Choir as its singing season concludes until fall.

A coffee fellowship in the main hall precedes the service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday School classes are at 9:45 a.m.

The communicants' class meets Sunday at 5:30 p.m. in Room 300.

"The Art of Worldly Wisdom: Now You List 300 Suggestions," a presentation by Radford University philosophy and religion professor Russell Gregory, will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST FELLOWSHIP OF THE NEW RIVER VALLEY, 1301 Gladewood Drive, Blacksburg.

\ RIVERVIEW BAPTIST CHURCH in Giles County will hold its second annual Memorial Day commemoration May 30 at 10:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary.

The church is on Big Stoney Creek Road (Virginia 635) between Pembroke and Pearisburg, about a third of a mile north of U.S. 460.

Local survivors of recent military conflicts will read the names of those who died in battle, and the nation's colors will be presented in their honor.

Area musical groups, state and local dignitaries, and several fraternities of war veterans will take part.

The Riverview Baptist men's fellowship will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at the home of Carl Honaker. Prayer requests will be offered following fellowship.
