CATHOLIC PARISHES IN WESTERN VA. GET NEW PASTORS

Several Western Virginia parishes in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Richmond will be receiving new pastors effective June 1.

The Rev. Carl Naro, pastor of St. Andrew parish in Roanoke, is retiring after 41 years of ministry. He will be replaced by the Rev. Steven R. Rule, pastor of Prince of Peace in Chesapeake.

Also retiring is the Rev. Thomas D. Welch, pastor of Holy Family parish in Pearisburg. The Rev. Louis Benoit, pastor of St. Gerard's in Roanoke, will replace Welch.

Benoit will be succeeded by the Rev. John D. Boddie, parochial vicar at Holy Spirit parish in Virginia Beach.

The Rev. Joseph C. Facura, parochial vicar at St. Andrew parish in Roanoke, will move to a similar position at Holy Spirit in Virginia Beach. He will be replaced by the Rev. Peter Tran, who moves from Holy Cross parish in Lynchburg.
