OBIT AKERS, EVELYN CHAMBLER

AKERS, Evelyn Chambler, 84, of Roanoke, died Saturday morning, May 22, 1993, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra A. and L. Lee Ivey of 103 Maple Court, Pine Knoll Shores, N.C. Mrs. Akers was the widow of Herman O. Akers. She was a retired Registered Nurse and a charter member of Grandin Court Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to her daughter and son-in-law, are two sisters, Inez C. Harvey, Roanoke, Mary C. McGeorge, Vinton; a sister-in-law, Lucille J. Akers, Roanoke; grandsons, Jeffrey D. Hagen, Matthew R. Hagen. The family suggests memorials may be made to Grandin Court Baptist Church or Hospice of Carteret County, N.C., P.O. Box 3598, Morehead City, N.C. 28557. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Oakey's South Chapel. The Rev. Robert M. Hamner and the Rev. Carol Johnston will officiate. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's South Chapel.
